Maxim and FHM are finally getting their shit together

Recently, FHM unveiled their Hottest 100 Women for 2008 and put Megan Fox at the top. Megan made it to our Final Four, so I have no complaint there. Especially after their and other entities' previous title holders included Lindsay Lohan, Beyonce, Jessica Alba, Heather Mills and Britney Spears, none of which even made a dent in our contest (the very reason for our contest, by the way).

This week Maxim came out with their Hottest 100 Women for 2008 and Marisa Miller wears the crown. Way to go Maxim readers or whoever decided that! She is in our final pairing and at last check had a minuscule lead over Kate Beckinsale.



Now does that mean that we no longer have a need for our contest? Slow down, there, skippy. As long as things like THIS make anyone's Hottest 100 Women list, there will always be a need for our contest.

There have been many attempts to determine who the sexiest woman in the world is at various times throughout history. Maxim tries it every year. FHM does too. AskMen.com does as well. The results of their polls are dubious at best. (see Lohan, Lindsay). Are you really going to sit there and tell me that Lindsay Lohan is the sexiest woman in the whole world, Maxim reader? C'mon. Beyonce? I guess... Jessica Alba? Getting warmer.

I think that YOU and I can do better. So, I am taking names off of those two lists, adding and subtracting where I see fit, and letting you decide who REALLY is the sexiest woman on the planet.

WOW. Now that was close. Hard to know when to draw the line when it's that tight, so I let this one run a few more hours than normal hoping to get a more decisive result. In the end, it didn't happen and I had to call it with Eva Mendes moving on after a squeaker of a victory over Maria Menounos. Sorry Maria fans...
