Oscar De La Hoya/Steve Forbes Round 1.

Round 1 underway, the two fighters circle each other tentatively in the ring. Larry Merchant points out that Forbes has never been knocked down during his 11 year career. Oscar and Forbes trade jabs that don't connect, DLH doubles up a jab followed by a body shot. Nice flurry by Forbes which Oscar answers with a flurry of his own. Oscar needs to get back into a jabbing rhythm which is isn't doing so far. Oscar is working to the body nicely and he's a solid body puncher. Oscar jabbing more now mixing it up with his right hooks to the body. Nice stiff jab by DLH knocks Forbes back a bit. Oscar moving forward, still mixing up jabs and bodyshots. Jab and bodyshot by Forbes, blocked by Oscar. Forbes misses with an uppercut. Forbes eats another jab followed by a couple of solid overhad rights. Forbes lands a left hook and another to finish the round well, but too little too late as DLH takes it. Round one goes 10-9 Oscar De La Hoya...
