Once again "The Future of Fightsport Journalism(TM)" will be live-blogging a major boxing event for on205th.com.
Join us tonight for Juan Manuel Marquez v. Manny Pacquiao II.
Let's see what the MSM is saying about the match:
From ESPN/AP...
Pacquiao (45-3-2, 34 KOs) is a slight favorite to claim Marquez's title, but the Filipino champion has said the fight will be his last at 130 pounds. His next fight is expected to be at Mandalay Bay in late June against WBC lightweight champion David Diaz, who's fighting Ramon Montano on Saturday's undercard.
Marquez (48-3-1, 35 KOs) hopes a victory over Pacquiao will lead to a third meeting, since both fighters have rematch clauses in their contracts. Marquez won his title last year with a unanimous decision over Marco Antonio Barrera.
From the Union-Tribune...
The fight reprises one the participants waged in May 2004 at a lighter weight, 125. In that match, Pacquiao dropped the senior of the boxing Marquezes three times in the opening round, then had Juan Manuel rally to gain a draw. Pacquiao later would say he injured his left hand on his second knockdown.
And for a little preview of what will take place tonight, here's video of those first two round of fight number one that the Union-Tribune mentioned...
So if you don't have the $49.95 to drop on watching the fight, be sure to come back here tonight, as the festivities get started around 9pm ET.
UPDATE: Here's another preview fer ya.
