Juan Manuel Marquez v. Manny Pacquiao postfight

Pacquiao interviewed now by Larry Merchant. His face looks awful and his right eye is swollen shut. That should give you an idea of what a hellacious fight this was--Pacquiao is the *winner* and it looks like a truck hit him. This will be yet another one of the great fights that the mainstream media overlooks so they can continue their nonsensical prattle about how "boxing is dying". If you read my Epic Carnival rant earlier today you know that I've got a short fuse toward the mainstream sports media at the moment but their myopic coverage of boxing is pathetic.

Marquez being interviewed now through a translator--he also looks like a truck hit him. Man, I feel bad for Marquez in that he fought his ass off for 23 of the 24 rounds (not counting the 3 knockdown first round in the first fight) and all he has to show for it is a draw and a loss. Two fights, 24 rounds and one point difference between Marquez and Pacquiao. Again, I've got plenty of things to bitch about in my role as a fightsport journalist but the effort that these men put forth in the two fights against each other is why I love fighting. Its a privilege to watch giants among men like Marquez and Pacquiao ply their craft...

Quick shoutouts--thanks to the folks here at on205th for letting me do this. Props to my Aussie Eastern Europe MMA source Edo--visit his website at BetWWX.com to get all sorts of free sports plays in every sport under the sun. Once I get over this flu and get the professional chaos under control I'll be contributing to the site again:

And last but certainly not least we've got the inbred, Special Ed sibling of the aforementioned website. They may try to lock us in the basement when dates come over, but we got out and we're about to unleash ourselves on an unsuspecting world. Straight out of the verdant hills of the Rose City get ready for the future of MMA news and journalism: THE SAVAGE SCIENCE where we'll cover MMA, mayhem and a whole lot more. Our launch is a matter of days away but you can visit the site and bookmark it right now. Sign up for our mailing list, check out THE SAVAGE SCIENCE MySpace page and generally prepare yourself:

Once again thanks bigtime to the folks here at on205th.com who also run the site where I usually hold court on the fight game, the one and only EPIC CARNIVAL. I've been sort of hit and miss with my award winning weekly recap of the fightsport game called "The Prophet's Tuesday Tapout" due to my recent move, my other professional responsibilities, the flu, etc. but I'll be back in the saddle again within the next week or so. Seriously, EC is one of the funniest and generally most entertaining collection of writers you'll find anywhere online. They've collected most of the sports blogs and websites worth reading in one handy central location. Even if I *didn't* write for the site I'd give them props and read it every day. So don't miss it, dammit...
